James Stubblebine Obituary

James R. Stubblebine, 70, of Union Township, passed away in the evening hours on Monday, April 8, 2024 at home where he was happy.

He was the adored husband of Ruthella B. “Ruthie” (nee Long) Stubblebine with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage and together for 50.  Born Thursday, April 1, 1954 in Reading, he was a son of the late Irvin and Mary (née Ramsey) Stubblebine.

Jim was a 1972 graduate of Reading High School and served in the United States Army.  He was employed by various companies in the Berks County area in industrial sales.  Jim was a member of Stichter Lodge #254 F&AM in Pottstown, life member of the Perry Township Gun Club, Monocacy Fire Company, Victor Emmanuel II Beneficial Society and a life member of the NRA. He was an excellent chef and enjoyed his annual trips to Musikfest in Bethlehem.  Jim’s favorite pastime was going to the casino.  He didn’t care if he won or lost, he just loved to play. Jim loved spending time with his wife, even if only to sit together on the couch and watch TV.  He loved and so missed his boys–reminiscing when they would get together, how you could feel the house shake with their laughter between the three of them.  No truer words-”It’s a Stubblebine thing, you wouldn’t understand” could not have rung more true.

In addition to his wife Ruthie, Jim is survived by his granddaughter, Lea M. Stubblebine of California, his grandson, Zachary A. Stubblebine of Mohnton, and his great-granddaughter, Kairi R. Stubblebine, his sister, Christine, wife of Robert W. Blatt,  Joe’s fiance Yasmin Loose and son Kai Albert Loose as well as several nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind his best buddies, “Arrow and Smokey”.

He was pre-deceased by his sons, James R. Stubblebine, Jr. and Jody L. “Joe” Stubblebine and his siblings, Ronald, Gary, Judy, Willard and Robert.

A special Thank You to the team of AsceraCare Hospice, with recognition of Ellen and Julie, God’s Angels.
