Roy L. Swalm, 91, of Sinking Spring, passed away in the morning hours, Friday, June 22, 2018, of natural causes in his residence. He was the husband of Evelyn A. (nee Barnett) Swalm. Born March 27, 1927, in Jonestown, PA, he was a son of the late Roy & Luella (nee Meyer) Swalm. He was a veteran of WWII, having proudly served in the US Navy. He was employed by ARCO Pipeline for 38 years, retiring in 1985. Roy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring, VFW post 6150, Sinking Spring, and was a life member of the Liberty Fire Co., Sinking Spring. Roy was instrumental in building a community swimming pool in the borough of Sinking Spring. Additionally, he participated in the planning to relocate the Sinking Spring Passenger Station and Freight Depot to establish Heritage Park. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Bruce R. Swalm and Beverly J., wife of Dale Whitehead; his step children: Ray A. Rhoads, husband of Sue, Denise M., wife of Dennis Henry, and Lori A., wife of Bruce Rohrbach; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and by his sister, Shirley Dwire. He was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher Whitehead; and by his sister, Shirley Dwire. Services and interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, will be private.
