Geneva Richard, 91, of Womelsdorf, passed away in the afternoon hours, Thursday, October 20, 2016, of natural causes in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. She was the widow of the late Lynn G. Richard, who died November 17, 2010. Born May 22, 1925, in Jackson Co., Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Thomas & Mary (Spurlock) Shepherd. After the passing of her mother, Geneva was raised by her step mother Sally Burns Shepherd. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Womelsdorf, where she shared her passion for mission work, especially aiding world hunger. She also was a volunteer delivering “Meals on Wheels” for over 10 years. Geneva had proudly served in the Women’s Army Corps during WWII, as a Private First Class, working as a driver with the motor pool, as she was one of the few women who could drive standard shift. Geneva is survived by her children: Dr. Kathryn Meyer, wife of Dr. Carl Meyer, Greenville, Mark Richard, husband of Carol Richard, Harleysville, Marsha Wisler, wife of Charles Wisler, Boyertown, Michelle Bateman, wife of Jack Bateman, Stouchsburg, Melynda Wrightstone, wife of Mark Wrightstone, Carlisle; her siblings: Imogene Campbell, Davie Lee Felty; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and her daughter in law, Anita Richard, also survive. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Richard, and by her sister Ella Gale Hubbard. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 11:00 AM from the Mull Funeral Home, 27 E. High St., Womelsdorf, with the Rev. W. Bennett Harris, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
